Turn right or left?

So many times in the Christian life we feel as if we have to pick the perfect path for our life.  For young people, especially, making decisions is hard.  Is this the college God wants me to go to?  Is this the person God wants me to marry?  Is this the right job God wants me to do?  Does God want me to turn right or left at this stop sign?  These questions are hard because they are not specifically discussed in Scripture.  Often times we make things a bit more complicated trying to find the perfect button to push.  Yes, of course you should pray about it.  Any decision no matter how big or small we should seek the Lord.  But in reality God has given us the ability to have freedom in Christ in decisions that are not specifically mentioned in the Word of God.  What I mean by that is God allows His children to be free in making decisions as long as they are glorifying to God.  1 Corinthians 11:31 says, ” So, whether you eat or drink; or “whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”  Is turning left glorifying to God?  Great! Turn left.  Is turning right glorifying to God?  Great!  Turn right.  Neither choice is wrong.  I have found that instead of praying Lord which way do you want me to go, our prayer should be, Lord close doors that will lead to not glorifying you with my life.  Open doors that my life can glorify you.  Lord examine my heart that this decision is not based upon my glory and my selfish desires but based upon bringing your name glory.  Decisions, decisions.  Don’t be worried if the decision is wrong, be concerned about using that decision for the glory of God.
